Your map. Your choice to share.

Session access
Nevar Map uses capability codes instead of participant accounts. Anyone holding the viewing code can see the session’s shared positions, tracks, map items and event notices. The owner code additionally permits editing, phone enrollment and deactivation. Treat codes as private credentials. Names are chosen labels, not verified identities. Owners can rotate the viewing code to end existing viewing access.
Location reports
Only phones explicitly paired with this service send reports to it. Nevar Bridge transmits location, accuracy, chosen name/color, measurement time, available speed/directions and random installation/sample IDs. Receiver administrators can access accepted reports. HTTPS protects transport; the service is not end-to-end encrypted beyond this server. Stop sharing in the app to pause reporting. Previously accepted data is not automatically recalled by stopping.
Storage and expiry
Phone reports are retained for up to seven days, capped at 50,000 samples per enrolled device. Older records may be removed sooner at capacity. Scheduled cleanup runs every fifteen minutes. Session access lasts 30 days unless deactivated or extended by the administrator. Expired-session map items, credentials and metadata are removed after a seven-day grace period by scheduled cleanup. Operational backups may retain deleted data for up to seven further days. Do not store irreplaceable information only here; export your map items before expiry.
Basemaps and your browser
The initial basemap comes from OpenFreeMap using OpenStreetMap/OpenMapTiles data. Your browser requests tiles, fonts and map styles directly from that provider; those requests expose your network address and the area you are viewing to the provider. Device report bodies and access codes are not sent with tile requests. Self-hosted map hosting can replace this provider later. Browser GPS is optional and used locally for locate, bearing and navigation tools; this web app does not publish the browser’s blue-dot location. Device positions come from Nevar Bridge.
Cookies, alerts and offline behavior
Essential session and CSRF cookies maintain access and protect requests. No advertising or analytics SDK is included. Map display preferences may be stored in your browser. Event notices are shown while the map is open; optional browser notifications depend on browser support and permission and are not guaranteed when the phone is locked or the page is closed. This public service needs internet; it does not inherit the private Pi’s offline hotspot or local communications. During a connection loss the app retains already displayed layers but cannot obtain new positions; pending Bridge reports follow the app’s queue policy.
Administration and support
Location/report API access logging is disabled. Other operational/security logs can contain IP addresses, timestamps, paths and user agents, with daily rotation and up to 14 retained rotations. Access codes are submitted in request bodies, not URLs. Receiver tokens are independent per phone and can be revoked. No public registration, payment processing, Stripe subscription or emergency monitoring is offered in this initial release. Contact us for data requests, questions or abuse reports; never email codes, tokens or precise location screenshots without arranging a private channel.
